OOTD: Red & Black Together Again...

It is no secret to anyone who either knows me or has ever read my blog... I am a HUGE fan of virtually any red & black ensemble.  Red/White/Black ensembles rock, too!

Some call these "basics" but I think red is far too dramatic to be considered basic.  Don't you?

Today I opted for a wonderful skirt that I picked up from Ann Taylor LOFT last year.  HUGE fan of ATL.  If you've never browsed their stores or website... I cannot encourage you enough.

LOVE their classic and tailored styles.

How amazing is this skirt?

I hear Taylor Swift singing...

I love my red leather skirt, too but I think I'm saving that one for the weekend.

I wear my black leather skirt to work regularly but I am not 100% convinced that a red one really works at the office.  Certainly one doesn't work without a blazer and today is just not a "layering day" here at all.

Pair it up with a simple black blouse so that the skirt remains the "star of the show" and I'm ready to go.

However... I just couldn't resist the opportunity to break out these babies...

I guess the skirt may not enjoy a "starring role" anymore?  Best supporting actress?

I only joined the Society of High Heel Lovers about a year ago but I am fully "in" now.  I have been a devotee to "conservative" heels for years but there is just something about a higher heel that I have come to adore.  I wear them several days a week now.

Speaking of the Taylor Swift lyrics bouncing around in my head... I even wore high heels when I took my niece to the Taylor Swift Concert at Cowboys Stadium a few months ago.

LOTS of stairs... LOTS of stairs.  I admit it... that one was probably a mistake but... in my defense... I was not the only Mom/Aunt there sporting her heels that night.  Hee Hee

Okay... enough of that... I'm on the clock...

Here the three are together...

That felt pretty good.  I am going to try to be more consistent with my OOTD posts again.  We'll see?

However, this one had to be quick, 11:00 am conference call so I need to refocus.

Have A Wonderful Day!

Red Leather At Work...

Not much time to write today.  That is the way things go now and then.

I am sure that many of you are thrilled to read that anyway.

Hee Hee

SOOOOO...

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Did I select enough conservative pieces to "downplay" the obviously edgy red leather skirt?

Office appropriate today?

BTW... if you stopped by my last posting... thank you.  I hope that I answered most of your questions.

If you left one of the AMAZINGLY SWEET comments... I am speechless.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Have A Great Day!!!!

Red, White & Black...

Simply one of my favorite combinations.  I just think it is so classic.  So sharp.

Not to mention easy.  Hee Hee

What colors (or lack of color, Hee Hee) do you like combining in outfits?

In keeping with two trends that I started on my blog yesterday, I am showing you more polka dots AND more wardrobe items that I have worn on my blog before.  Get over it.  Hee Hee

This is a simple cotton shirt.  I actually have it in several colors.  I am a HUGE fan of "mix & match" items for my closet.  The more things I feel like I can pair with a potential new acquisition, the more likely that item is to leave the store and find a new home in my closet.

What is important to you when shopping for new wardrobe pieces?

BTW... my dry cleaner is really pleased that I purchased this cotton shirt in multiple colors, too.  I am not much of a ironing girl.

Pair the shirt with one of my favorite skirts.

The skirt was last seen here, with the soft pink version of this shirt.

Which combination do you prefer?

Next, my standbys, the black Stuart Wietzman heels.  These have appeared too many times to count.  Sometimes I think I wear them every single day.  My co-workers may as well?  Hee Hee

Imminently walkable and so classic.  Two things I adore.

 And the finished product...

That is three days in a row that I have managed to get an outfit post up.

Already thinking about tomorrow.

Look out!

More Polka Dots...

The blouse that I showed you all in my last post was such a HUGE success that it motivated me to go with some more polka dots today.  Actually, I received a number of compliments on it throughout the day as well.  It is a lovely blouse, prepare to see it again soon.  Hee Hee

Anyhoo... on to today's ensemble...

Once I had decided to go with this black & white skirt it got me to thinking what a smashing success the red/white/black combo had been here.  That post has been by far the most commented on since I started this blog last October.  Why not duplicate it?  The houndstooth skirt in that post was a thrift find, sadly this one was not.  This one came from my favorite store ever... Harold's.  Let's all say it together... "I miss that store."

The skirts are far different materials and the patterns are not exactly the same but the impact is similar.

What do you think of this skirt?

I chose a lighter weight sweater today because I knew that the rain would cause me to break out the long overcoat.  No pictures of the coat.  No one wants to see that.  Ugly.  Hey, it is warm and keeps the rain at bay so it remains in the arsenal just for days like today.

It is not all that cold but the rain and grey skies just makes it a craptastic day.  Thanks again Kassi.

I think the two just go beautifully together.  How about you?

To finish the look I went with... drum role please... my tall black boots by Born.  I actually like the look of the boots with the buckle embellishment I have shown you before better but you simply cannot beat these for their walkability.  Yes, that is a word.  Look it up.

Don't believe me?

Webster's says:  Any shoe or boot that remains comfortable even after several hours of walking.

See!

Oh yea... the boots...

The entire ensemble came together like this...

What do you think?  I know, the red is a little bold but despite my tendency to migrate back to blacks, whites, greys, blues and various shades of brown I do like a little color.

BTW... because I always like to add a funny little story about my outfit if there is one to be told...

Earlier today we had a big conference call involving a number of members of our team and some clients from out of town.  Nothing unusual.  I was one of the last to arrive in the board room for the call.  Nothing unusual.  Hee Hee.  My boss was already on the phone with the client, going around the room introducing those that were already present when I walked in to here this...

My boss:  "... and John are already here."  "Jordan will be here... wait a minute... Mrs. Clause just arrived."

Now I don't think that was a reference to my wonderful giving nature so I am assuming it was due to the bright red sweater that I have chosen for today.

Please don't read anything into that.  I love my boss.  She is fantastic and we kid one another all the time about our daily outfits, our hair, whatever.  In fact, she is the person that first called me "The Leather Skirt".  She doesn't actually call me that anymore (not that I know anyway, Hee Hee) but occasionally I will here someone mention it as I walk by their office.

By the way, my boss always looks fantastic and will rock a leather skirt to the office on occasion, too.  She has three kids at home.  She has been married for almost 20 years.  She is amazing.
