My Last Chance For Awhile...

I live in Texas. Texas is hot during the summer months, especially in August.  I like wearing leather skirts.  Not the best combination.

Fortunately, air conditioning was invented so I get to wear my skirts pretty much whenever I want... except when it is REALLY hot.  I do have to get from one air conditioned place to another.  Hee Hee

I got home last night, went thru my normal routine and selected today's attire. 

I am not wearing what I initially pulled together. 

You see, I did something that I rarely do, I watched the news. 

Turns out that our relatively comfortable summer is about to come to an abrupt halt.  The 100 degree days settle in tomorrow or the next day.  Not good.

Given this new bit of information, I returned to my closet and pulled out one of my favorites...

I figure today will be my last chance to wear it for several days.

I truly LOVE this caramel leather skirt.  It wears so well... like butter.  Beautiful color.

If you have been a faithful follower since December, you probably remember that Mom gave me this lovely skirt for Christmas... right out her closet.  Accordingly, it is a treasured member of my wardrobe.

I paired it with a crisp vertical striped blouse.  A little "menswear" inspired. 

Going for the "casual./chic" office look.  Did I pull it off?

I think the colors compliment one another wonderfully.  What do you think?

Originally I had selected some nude slides that I adore but right before I raced out the door I remembered these beauties.  They do not see the street often enough.  Such a rich color.  Love them.

I actually posted this with my office computer... while at work  Not good.  I have a lunch date (settle down, its a college girlfriend) in a minute so I need to go.

Life has been crazy but school started for my niece and nephew and sis is really beginning to settle in so hopefully things will become more "consistent", if not "normal" for me again soon.  I miss blogging.

An Outfit Post... YES... An Outfit Post!!!

Thanks to all of you that have patiently hung with me.  Welcome back to those that have stumbled back in despite not really having missed my wit & whimsy.  A hearty HELLO!!!! to those that are venturing over to my little corner of the Internet for the first time.

Today I present an outfit post... for the first time since February 14th!!!!  I know.

If you read my blog at all (or if you are new, I suspect the name alone tells you all you need to know?)... you know that I truly LOVE wearing leather skirts.  When assembling today's ensemble I decided to start there.

This gorgeous skirt is the one that mom gave to me for Christmas... directly from her closet.  I treasure it. 

The color is wonderful.  Best of all, I think that I will be able to wear this baby year round.  Who am I kidding... of course, I will.  I wear my black one on hot August days, why wouldn't I wear this one?

Next up, a great blouse.  Today I went with dainty... feminine.  Let's take a little edge off the leather since I will be attending a program at my nephew's school tonight.  You can read a little more about that here if you missed the recent changes in my life.

I just LOVE this blouse.  Delicate.  Feminine.  Sexy & conservative.  Perfect.

I think the subdued polka dots make it unique.

So the question... how well does it work with the centerpiece of the ensemble?

Next... shoes... what to do... what to do?

To warm for my beloved boots so I went with these.

The color isn't perfect for 'matchy - matchy' (I am a HUGE fan of 'matchy - matchy' right now) but they are so cute and perfect for strolling around the office and downtown on a warm day.

I have to say... this IS one of my favorite ensembles in some time.  I love the skirt.  I love the blouse.  The shoes are beloved members of my wardrobe since college, maybe high school?  Why haven't I put all this together already?

I have a business trip coming up in a few days.  Perhaps I will recreate this ensemble for a new audience?  Sometimes when I have an opportunity to travel I will wear the exact same outfit that I wore just a day or two prior because I liked it so much the first time.  I figure, why not, this group of people didn't just see me in it two days ago.  Does anyone else do that?

I Love My Christmas Gifts...

I truly hope that your Christmas celebrations were as wonderful as mine were.  I am so blessed.

After a long weekend of sitting around visiting and playing many rounds of Rummy (Dad has always loved playing Rummy), I took the day off from work as Mom & Dad were flying home today.  We had a lovely brunch and then I dropped them at the airport.   They should be home safe and sound soon.  After dropping them off I decided to brave the mall for a bit.  Madhouse.  I may actually go out again in a little while anyway though.  Hee Hee

Anyway... I hope that Santa Clause was as nice to each of you as he was to me this year.  I must have been an especially good girl... even better than I realized.  Hee Hee

I received only three gifts but I cannot say enough times how much I absolutely LOVE them all!

# 1 - Mom & Dad mailed me a beautiful Christmas Tree (Mentioned in this post).

# 2 - Mom & Dad surprised me with a visit for the holiday.  What a wonderful and unexpected treat.

# 3 - Mom gave me something from her personal wardrobe that I have coveted for many years.  She gave me this beauty...

Can you believe it?  I am so excited!  LOVE it!

I do not know if the color comes through on the picture as well as I wished but it is simply the most gorgeous shade of caramel that I have ever seen.  I remember Mom wearing this beauty when I was still in high school, maybe before that.  She could not remember herself when she actually bought it or where.

It is made by Danier so you can imagine how well it is constructed.  Soft.  Soft. Soft.

It was all I could do to not change yesterday just so I could wear it right then but I managed to wait... until today.  Hee Hee

I chose to go a little more casual so I selected a light sweater.  It has a nice mock neck so it is comfy but warm on a yucky day like today.

I think the wine color is perfect with the skirt.  What do you think?

Tomorrow it is back to work but the week should be fairly light.  it usually is in and around major holidays.
