Election Day 2012...

There is no bigger day in American history than the election (or re-election) of the President.

In the spirit of this wonderful reflection of our sacred democratic process...

Another "Red, White & Blue" ensemble...

I think this is my favorite of the three "Red, White & Blue" outfits that I put together back on the day of the second Presidential Debate.  I missed the final debate so the other combination should be seen on Veteran's Day, November 11th.  Cross your fingers... Hee Hee

Here was the first ensemble.

Which is your favorite?

This one is probably my favorite because of this red oxford.

I wear this shirt with numerous items in my closet.  Very versatile.

I see many bloggers doing "30x30" challenges and I always applaud them.  I would never take on such a challenge but in many respects I do it every single day.

Versatility is a must when I decide to bring something home from the store.  I am a HUGE fan of the "mix & match" flexibility an item can provide.  Many different outfits... one piece.

Although it is no secret to those that read my blog that I also adore this lightweight denim skirt from Ann Taylor LOFT.

This skirt is a recent acquisition but it is fast becoming one of my favorites.

It is just so easy to "dress up" for work or "dress down" for less formal occassions.  I actually wore it to my niece and nephew's soccer game a couple of weeks ago.  Paired it with a t-shirt... easy... "casual"... still in keeping with my personal style.

As you know, I am just not the blue jeans sort of girl.

Throw in a simple pair of white heels from Liz Claiborne and I think you have a pretty cute ensemble.

White after Labor Day... the horror!

Just kidding... Halloween was only a few days ago so it seemed like a funny comment.

Maybe not?

Seriously, just another time that The Leather Skirt ignores the "rules of fashion."

Hee Hee

Well?  Agree?

For my USA readers... Regardless of your political leanings... I hope you will vote today!  It does matter!

There are those around the world watching... those that would die for the opportunity... do not take the responsibility lightly!

I have already done my civic duty.  The line was not too bad.  Go out... vote!

Just A Casual Saturday...

Dallas is a bit warm again today.  Mid October and the temps continue to soar.  As you may recall, last weekend was quite chilly, well "Dallas Chilly" anyway.

Bad news...You just never know what to expect.

Good news... I can wear just about my entire wardrobe all year long AND I do.

Hee Hee

For those that do not know, apparently there is a pretty big football game going on here this weekend.  This is an annual event as a part of the State Fair of Texas.  Honestly, I am not much of a sports fan so I will not bore you with details.  However, after living here for years, two things are quite clear to me...

First, The University of Oklahoma and the University of Texas do not like one another very much... at least when it comes to football.

-- AND  --

Second, a sea of red and orange will be all over town.

I decided that my wonderful linen skirt in a lime green hue would be the perfect way of telling everyone that I am not taking sides.  Besides, if I even liked sports... my college was so small that they did not have football when I was there so I have no personal "football beef" with either school.

Anyway... on to my ensemble...

As I already mentioned... I started with my lovely green linen skirt.

I have this skirt in a wonderful pastel pink as well.  Wore it earlier this week.  If you like, it is in this post.

Although you did not get to see them much this past summer they are both staples for me.

Light weight.  Great colors.

Easy to mix and match with many of my tops.

Great for the office.  Great for casual wear.

Simply one of my favorite things to wear.

Since it is a warm Saturday, I decided my scoop neck t-shirt from Ann Taylor would be the perfect compliment to this lovely pencil skirt.

Light.

Simple.

Wonderful fit.

Cute.

Comfortable.

What more could a girl want?

So do they "work" together?

Doesn't this little ensemble just "say" comfortable.

I like the term "casual/chic" for outfits like this.

If you read my blog at all, you know that I am a true "skirt & heels" kind of girl.

I do not just wear them to work.  I wear them all the time... everywhere.

Honestly, I just really do not like wearing pants.

Notable exception... my leather pants.  They are great to wear!  you will see them on regular rotation, starting in just a few short weeks.

Back to my "skirt and heels ramble"...

There is just "something" about a great skirt.  Same is true for a great pair of heels.  Why not pair them together on a regular basis?

Ladies, if you do not wear such combinations very often... try it.  You will be surprised at the compliments you will get.

I admit it, I am a bit of a narcissist but when i get a compliment, it is such a great part of my day.

Moving on...

When I pulled this ensemble together last night I had planned on these shoes.

These Liz Claiborne suede heels are also a summer staple.  Soft pink tone.  Almost beige.

Cute bow on top.  What's not to like?

One problem... they are not very agreeable with water and storm are in today's forecast.

Enter the white Liz Claiborne heels that I wore just a couple of days ago.  I showed them to you on my The Rule Breaker post.

Much better choice if the rains do come.

"Sensible" heels.  If only they were higher... sigh.

Here is the ensemble as I prepare to walk out the door...

Yes, of course I am fully dressed while working up this blog post.

Hee Hee

So?  What do you think?

I read all of my comments.  They are truly a bright spot in my day.

I thank you so very much for taking the time to stop in, maybe read a bit of my silliness AND then leave a comment as well... especially the really wonderful ones.  All of you are so very sweet!

HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND!

The Rule Breaker...

This will be one of my shortest post yet.

Yes, I know some of you are thrilled.

Hee Hee

You see, it is well after midnight here and I literally just got in from work.  At about 4:30 today my awesome boss (she really is) strolled in to tell me that we had just gotten the opportunity to to see a client but it is LAST MINUTE and UNEXPECTED.  Proposal MUST come together today as she on the first flight out to go make our pitch.  Okay... let's dig in.

At least I was cute (or at least I thought so) while working into the late hours of the night.  Oh, and I am not the one that will be at DFW Airport in just a few short hours either so things can always be more difficult.

Onto far less critical things... what did I wear today?

Today I started with my white Liz Claiborne heels.  I just felt like it.  Not actually what I had planned the night before.

So I often do not conform to traditional "rules" of the fashion world... call me a rebel.

So who says you cannot wear white after Labor Day?  Does anyone really know?  Why not?

Followed the heels up with a white blouse AND a great pink linen skirt just to make sure I had broken all of the rules regarding post Labor Day attire.  Call Me A Rebel,

Hee Hee

Fortunately I had snapped these photos this morning before leaving for the office.

SO... What do you think?
The pictures are doing funky things tonight?  Too tired to fight with it anymore.

Hope it works once I "publish?"

Have A Great Day!

A Touch of Pink...

Pink is such a lovely color.  I like all shades of pink.  Not only is it pretty and feminine it is remarkably at home when paired with any number of other colors.

Pink comes in so many rich hues from quite soft to very bold.

Today I chose to go with a soft pink ensemble... almost head to toe... almost.  Apparently I am in need (or is it want?) of a pair of soft pink heels.  Hee Hee

I started with a recent EBay gem.  Some of the softest suede I have ever owned.

Cute little pleats at the bottom, too.

$10... Seriously.  Who would part with such a beautiful skirt for a mere $10?

Oh well, there loss... my gain.

Do you agree?

I think this soft pink oxford make the perfect partner for this lovely skirt.

I showed you this oxford style blouse paired with my black leather skirt back in November and paired with my beloved black and white polka dot skirt April.

Which ensemble is your favorite?

Since I have yet to acquire the aforementioned soft pink heels I elected to go with my white Bandolino's.

Funny, these shoes only made there "blog debut" a few days ago and both appearances have been after Labor Day.  Fashion rules... smashion rules.

And the full look...

I am out the door in just a moment.

I feel really pretty this morning.  Don't mind saying.  I just love it when an outfit makes me feel like that.

How about you?

Looking forward to a wonderful day.  Hope your is blessed, too.

Today We Live On The Sun...

So yesterday morning rolls around and I excitedly race to the computer to share what I have planned for the day but when I try to log-in to my beloved blog, I find that there are some sort of issues?

Apparently my blog has "detected unusual activity?"

What does that mean?  I honestly have no idea but what I do know is it was almost 24 hours before the issue could be resolved so I missed my post yesterday.  Ugh!

Drat!!!

I was on a roll, too.

After months of inconsistency (okay, near non-existence), I had posted for several days in a row.

I was prepared to keep the streak alive and then in steps the computer... or was it the Internet... maybe it was the server (now we are way out in a land I do not understand, Hee Hee)... or perhaps it had something to do with the sun spots?  I know they get blamed for cell phone problems on occasion?

Anyway...

It is HOT here in Texas today.  The weatherman says 100 degrees (Fahrenheit) but I would sooner believe it is 120.  I swear it was already 100 degrees when I left for work this morning.

Needless to say, no leather skirt today.  Probably not all week.  Oh well, I have some different ideas for the week anyway.  Hee Hee

Today I decided that the "no white after Labor Day" rule could not possibly include anyone who is actually living on the face of the sun and that certainly feels like the case today.

With that said...

A simple white t-shirt by Ann Taylor Loft.  Lightweight, attractive.

BTW... speaking of Ann Taylor Loft... can't wait to show you this glorious skirt that I bought from their website the other day.  Should be here any day!

Definitely a bit "casual" for me at the office but I am not anticipating any clients today so all should be well.  Besides, I am living on the sun.

Isn't this skirt just darling?  I call it my "Venice Skirt" as the scenery in the print reminds me of Venice.

Again, a little "casual" for an office day but I think it works.

Pair the two together...

Since I understand that a little touch of "formal" is probably in order, I go with my white Bandolino heels.  Ladies, if you have never owned a pair of Bandolino's... get some... now!

Simple, yet elegant.  I think it is a nice touch to an otherwise "casual" ensemble.

What do you think?

And the whole outfit...

I really do feel quite "pretty" today.  Maybe it is because I am a bit of an Easter Egg?  Hee Hee

Computer problems set me back.  Or was it Blogger?  Maybe just the Internet?  I don't know but no matter the reason... The Leather Skirt Blog was shut down for a day and I missed my self imposed deadline and have been forced to start again.

My simple goal, post my outfit every day this week.  Stay tuned...
