Did I Miss Winter?

It is HOT today.  No other way to describe it.

The weatherman says it will be that way all week.

Fall arrives on Saturday... IF the weatherman is correct.

I plan to celebrate with my beloved leather pants.

Until then...

How about a week's worth of "Spring/Summer" fashion?

If you read my blog at all you know that I really do not adhere to such whims in the fashion world but the bottom line... hot days typically require a more thoughtful approach to one's ensemble.

Ironically, I can wear almost anything that I wish during the actual Summer months because our office is always so cold with full blast air conditioning.  This time of the year is a little more tricky.

Fortunately, this ensemble was just right for the day.  Just right for the walk to work, just right for a day spent in the office.  Just right.

I think these Evan Picone heels are a perfect match for this skirt.

I call it my "Venice Skirt" and I truly LOVE it!

How could I not?

Look at the print... amazing!

Mix in a simple scoop neck top in the perfect shade and I think I have a great ensemble.

Sometimes I think "simple" is far too underrated.

I wonder if we "fashionable ladies" TRY to hard on occasion?

HOW ABOUT YOU?

Well, nothing fun or exciting to report today.  I did have a great weekend.  Hope you did as well?

Perhaps I can share some of my weekend in tomorrow's post?

HAVE A GREAT DAY!

An Easy Sunday...

Sunday is meant for rest.  I rarely get to take advantage of this fact.  Today I did.

Yesterday was rather hectic.  Mostly fun, but busy.

This morning I went to church and then I returned home.  That's it.  Honest.

Read some of my favorite blogs.  LOVE doing that.

Picked up a bit around the house.

Made myself some lunch.

Sat out on my balcony and read.

Watched TWO movies!

In other words... BLISS!

In anticipation of such an Easy Sunday I decided an easy outfit would be appropriate.

This is a top that has not made it to the blog before. Honestly, I rarely wear it.  I am not sure it is appropriate for the office.  A little too casual for my liking.

The suede skirt is a recent acquisition but one that I absolutely LOVE to wear.  I will never lose my fascination with a great finished leather but suede certainly has a place in my heart, too.

The heels are something that I tend to break out when a "dash" of color just seems necessary.  Today I actually selected them because I think they compliment the skirt and top very well.

Burgundy is arguably the "it" color of the season.  I prefer to think of burgundy as a "family" of colors, rather than just one simple shade or tone.

This top is more accurately a shade of "cranberry" but I would argue that is very much part of the "burgundy family".

What do you think?

There are three very important things about this top.

1)  Very comfortable.

2)  Very feminine.  Are you kidding... look at the flower details and the "girly" sleeves.

3)  It is OLD.  I could not even begin to try and guess where it came from.

You have seen this lovely pink suede skirt before.

I last posted it on the blog here.

This baby was a steal off EBay!  $10!!!

No kidding!  Ten dollars!  Can you believe that?

Butter soft like a good suede should be.  Fabulous skirt!

Oh, and how cute are those pleats?

I also happen to think the top and the skirt go very well together.  The pink and the cranberry tones compliment one another so very well.

What do you think?

I decided my trusty Evan Picone croc print heels would be the perfect finishing touch.

Burgundy, "No."

Some shade that fits well into the "burgundy family"... I say "Yes!"

How about you?

Well, that is the story of the "burgundy family"... at least according to Jordan... The Leather Skirt.

I truly appreciate each and every comment that you fashionable ladies take the time to write.

They all mean so much.

Look forward to reading what you have to say... especially the sweet ones.

A Touch of Pink II...

Okay, so yesterday was a bit more than a "touch" of pink.

If you missed it, click over to A Touch Of Pink to see my $10 pink suede skirt.

I am really into polka dots at the moment.  I suspect that these posts are evidence enough of that fact.

The problem, I just do not want to wear the same pieces day after day.  Truth time... I actually do want to wear some of my favorites EVERY single day... but then who doesn't it?  So more accurately, I know that I really should make more of an effort to expand my horizons.  This blog has actually been very good in that respect.  If the blog has given me nothing else, it has given me that.

Anyway...

Need more polka dots.  Dilemma.  Already spent "fashion budget" for the month.  Greater dilemma.  What to do?

Dig through the abandoned wasteland that is the back of my closet.  This is the region that only the US Marine Corps should actually venture.  Even the spiders are a little scared.  Do not laugh, you know you have the same kinds of "nooks and crannies"... "corners and cubbies."  You know, the portions of your closet where things just get lost... the abyss... the Bermuda Triangle.

Once again, I digress... moving on...

In the back of the closet I found this little gem... my very own polka dot skirt in a simple black and white pattern.  Subtle, yes but cute.  I see why I bought it... at Harold's... I know.

What do you think?

It is not the cut that I ordinarily prefer.  Perhaps that is why it got "lost" to begin with?  Never mind, she has found the sun again.  Perhaps another spin soon?  We will see?

I also wanted some color today.  The weatherman says rain tomorrow for sure.  In fact, sounds like a truly craptastic day ahead.

BTW... "craptastic" is not my word... belongs to Kassi over at The Closet Intervention.

She is great, take a look at her blog.

And another misstep.  Aah, the hazards of blogging.  Moving on, round two...

I decided to let the skirt speak for itself and went with a simple white oxford.  I think too much color on top and the polka dots would have been "lost" in the ensemble.

Dizzy yet?

Well?

Still in need of some color I opted for a "touch" of pink... rockin' pink...

These Evan Picone suede heels have been a staple of my wardrobe for as long as I can remember.

"I love it when a plan comes together!"

Some TV or movie character said that.  Who was it?  Anyone?

And the smartly dressed Dallas executive looks like this today...

I hope your day is wonderful today and if it rains where you are I hope it is a truly "craptastic" day!
