The Hemline...

This skirt is just fun to wear.  It really is.

Shouldn't clothes be fun to wear?

A little fun attire on such a dreary day just seems appropriate.

The hemline at the end of the fluted shape makes it so feminine.

I like sharp & polished very much but from time to time I like to break out a little "girlie," too.

Hee Hee

Isn't that just pretty?

Throw in a more masculine silk oxford style blouse just to provide a little balance and we're all set for a day at the office.

I think they work together pretty well.

The red blouse seems to pull that pinstripe out of the skirt.

And out the door I went...

Today on the DART train I was told by another businesswoman that she couldn't help but notice the adorable lace on the hem of my skirt.

Hee Hee

As I was stepping off the train, another lady asked where I had gotten the skirt.  Sadly, that answer is Harold's.  Temporary sadness followed by elation.  I love a good compliment.

Hee Hee

HOPE YOUR DAY WAS WONDERFUL!

OOTD: I Feel Like A Girl Today

I am feeling really "Girlie" today.

I haven't even left the apartment yet but I am already so happy with this ensemble that I couldn't wait to share it with all of you.

Maybe it is this wonderful polka dot number that I picked up at Harold's a few years ago?

Or maybe it is this fabulous pair of heels from Stuart Wietzman?

I don't know about you but both of these just feel so feminine to me.  I love to wear them both.

Throw in a little color in a lightweight turtleneck and things simply come together well.

So it all comes together like this...

Well?

Have A Wonderful Wednesday!

A Random Day Off...

Before I go on... Two things...

First... God's Blessings to all that are so harshly impacted by Hurricane Sally.  My heart goes out to you all.

Second... I will begin working on your questions from my previous post immediately.  Hopefully I will have the answers posted in a day or two?

So anyway...

I took today off.

No particular reason.

I just needed a day.

Do you ever feel that way?

I will not be laying around the house but I am not using my day for errands either.

Today is a fun and relaxing day just for me.

I was up early, met a an old college friend for breakfast.  I have a "lunch date" in just a few minutes.  Planning some shopping after lunch and then dinner with my friend Cindy.

Rob has given her the night off.

Hee Hee

Will be a wonderful day ahead.

Here is what I am wearing...

My beloved caramel leather skirt...

This lovely beige blouse...

and the best pair of shoes I have ever owned!

Simple ensemble.

Earth tones.

A little cheetah and leather for just a little "edge."
If you have been reading my blog for awhile you have certainly seen this skirt.  I really do wear it often.

You may recall from this post that it was a gift from Mom last Christmas?

Mom rocks!  She still always looks fabulous.  You will rarely "catch" her away from home without her heels and a skirt.  It is just how we roll.  That did not even sound right.

Hee Hee

The skirt is made by Danier.  It is softer than I could ever explain.

You have heard of "buttery soft leather"... I am sure that this skirt is the reason that term was first written.

I chose this wonderful blouse just to provide a little "feminine softness" to counter the "edge" of wearing any leather skirt, even one that is not black or red.

Almost wore the red one today.  Almost.

This lovely blouse has been in rotation for many years.  I wear it all year long.  The long sleeves make it appropriate for cooler months but the light material and color make it so comfortable, even on the hottest days.

Besides, I do not mind telling you that I feel quite "girlie" when I wear it.

Nevermind the wonderful color and cut... look at the cuffs and those cute little buttons.

I almost want to giggle as I type.

Hee Hee

Despite my obsession with leather I really am quite the "girlie" type.  Honest.

I really think these two garmets were "born" to be paired together.

The different textures.

The color pallet.

The cut of each.

They really are quite complimentary... at least I think so.

What do you think?

Throw in my current favorite footwear...

Ann Taylor has simply designed a fabulous pair of heels.  Fabulous!

The ladies in the office would probably tell you that I wear them too much?  Perhaps you think the same?

They truly are wonderful shoes.  Incredible look.  Comfortable.  Trendy... yet, classic.  Perfect!

It appears that they are still available here if you want a pair of your very own.

I am so happy that I made the purchase... so happy!

So here is the whole ensemble...

What do you think?

Oops... look at the time... going to be late for lunch... gotta go!

HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY!!!

The Great Debate I...

Blogging at lunch again today.  I do not really like to do that but I missed my post yesterday and I wanted to ensure that I got one up today.

Soooo...

Without giving away my political leanings...

I thought I would try to give a nod to tonight's very important US Presidential Debate between President Barack Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney.

Yes, I know this is actually the second debate between the two candidates but I did not select anything "special" the last time out.

This time...

In the spirit of our American political season, I chose a "Red, White & Blue ensemble."  Is there anything else that would be more fitting?

What do you think?

LOVE this blouse.

One problem, it is not as warm as the weather man promised it would be.

Thankfully I keep a sweater at the office for just such "wardrobe malfunctions."

Hee Hee

This blouse is truly wonderful.  It just a joy to wear.

Lightweight.  VERY "girlie"... which I like.

Perhaps even just a little "sexy?"

Certainly very elegant in my book.
 LOVE this new skirt, too.

You may recall that I recently acquired this classic item from Kohl's... "Yes!"... Kohl's!

Honestly, I am not a huge fan of Kohl's but for less than $30 this skirt was just too good of a deal not to at least try.

Vibrant color.  Great cut.  Fully lined.

Great classic pencil skirt.  I foresee years of wear at work and at play for this one.

What do you think?
And the finished ensemble...

Well?

What do you think?

Before I close I want to offer my best wishes to our two candidates.  I am confident that both of you are intelligent and driven.  I am confident that both of you care and want the best for our country and the rest of the world.

I wish you both the best of luck tonight.  Your country is watching.  Many around the world are watching.  It is a critical evening for you both.

I ask only one thing... be truthful.  Tell us all what you think, where you plan to lead us.  We are also bright people.  We will make an intelligent decision.  All we need is an honest comparison.

In the end, no matter who the winner of the election turns out to be...

I hope that our President will always do their best to consider the many above the desires of the few.

An Easy Sunday...

Sunday is meant for rest.  I rarely get to take advantage of this fact.  Today I did.

Yesterday was rather hectic.  Mostly fun, but busy.

This morning I went to church and then I returned home.  That's it.  Honest.

Read some of my favorite blogs.  LOVE doing that.

Picked up a bit around the house.

Made myself some lunch.

Sat out on my balcony and read.

Watched TWO movies!

In other words... BLISS!

In anticipation of such an Easy Sunday I decided an easy outfit would be appropriate.

This is a top that has not made it to the blog before. Honestly, I rarely wear it.  I am not sure it is appropriate for the office.  A little too casual for my liking.

The suede skirt is a recent acquisition but one that I absolutely LOVE to wear.  I will never lose my fascination with a great finished leather but suede certainly has a place in my heart, too.

The heels are something that I tend to break out when a "dash" of color just seems necessary.  Today I actually selected them because I think they compliment the skirt and top very well.

Burgundy is arguably the "it" color of the season.  I prefer to think of burgundy as a "family" of colors, rather than just one simple shade or tone.

This top is more accurately a shade of "cranberry" but I would argue that is very much part of the "burgundy family".

What do you think?

There are three very important things about this top.

1)  Very comfortable.

2)  Very feminine.  Are you kidding... look at the flower details and the "girly" sleeves.

3)  It is OLD.  I could not even begin to try and guess where it came from.

You have seen this lovely pink suede skirt before.

I last posted it on the blog here.

This baby was a steal off EBay!  $10!!!

No kidding!  Ten dollars!  Can you believe that?

Butter soft like a good suede should be.  Fabulous skirt!

Oh, and how cute are those pleats?

I also happen to think the top and the skirt go very well together.  The pink and the cranberry tones compliment one another so very well.

What do you think?

I decided my trusty Evan Picone croc print heels would be the perfect finishing touch.

Burgundy, "No."

Some shade that fits well into the "burgundy family"... I say "Yes!"

How about you?

Well, that is the story of the "burgundy family"... at least according to Jordan... The Leather Skirt.

I truly appreciate each and every comment that you fashionable ladies take the time to write.

They all mean so much.

Look forward to reading what you have to say... especially the sweet ones.

Hee Hee

Sometimes You Just Need A Great Pair Of Heels...

AM I RIGHT?

SOMETIMES ANY OUTFIT IS JUST BETTER WITH A GREAT PAIR OF HEELS.

ISN'T IT?

As I mentioned a couple of times recently, I am "drawn" to higher heeled shoes of late.

I am also developing a bit of a crush on almost anything with a leopard print.

So why not have both?

Today's outfit started right there.. with a great pair of leopard print heels.

These are my recent acquisitions from AT LOFT.

LOVE them!  LOVE everything about them!

The heel height... so much to my recent liking.

The leopard print... one of the best that I saw anywhere as I looked for the perfect pair of heels in this particular pattern.
AT LOFT was actually one of my last stops.  Should have looked there first.  Hee Hee

The fit... perfect!

Comfort... so much better than I feared.  I wore them all day... even walked to the DART station and to lunch in them.

What do you think of the whole ensemble?

Personally, I really like this burgundy blouse.  So feminine.  I feel like such a "girl" when I wear it.

I think the outfit just "sings" with these fantastic heels.

Such a gorgeous color...

...Brings out the pinstripes in this amazing skirt.

I have had this skirt for so many years.  It has more than earned its keep.

Well?

Today was a typical day.  Up early, out for a run.  Short run, still recovering.

Shower, dress and out the door.

What was fun... I had gotten my first compliment on these shoes before I even made it to the DART station.

A lady jogging by said, "Great shoes!" as she passed.  I had to smile.

Once I arrived at the DART station I sat down to wait.

I happened to be sitting next to a smartly dressed woman who looked over to take notice.  She said, "I love that pattern.  Lovely shoes."  Again, I had to smile.

The ladies at the office were very complimentary as well.  Such a good feeling.

The best compliment of all... yours... hint... hint...

Hee Hee

Have A Great Day!

Living On The Sun III...

It is over 100 degrees AGAIN... ugh!  Weatherman promises relief tomorrow... I hope so.

Enough complaining... let's move on.

In short, I am infinitely happier with today's ensemble.  The jury is still out on the blouse I wore yesterday but the feedback I received was really quite positive.  What do I know?

I still think I am leaning towards bidding it farewell.

One comment suggested a cool orange pencil skirt.  Perhaps I will try that?

Anyway, yesterday I went with pattern on top & basic on bottom.  Today we switch it around.

Today I started with some shoes that have never appeared here before.  There is good reason.  I do not wear them much.  It is just so HOT today that I decided to pull them out.  Give them a spin.

I am not much of a fan of a shoe that doesn't actually cover my whole foot but my pounding heart convinced me to give them a try.  The shoes actually called to me as I breezed by the shoe department.  I guess the buckles and pointed toe was just too much for logic to overcome.  Hee Hee

Do shoes talk to you at the store, too?

Alas, my brain was correct despite my heart's efforts to convince me otherwise and these beauties really do not get the love that they probably deserve.  Maybe I will make a better effort?

I adore this floral print skirt that I got at Harold's many years ago.  It is so light & airy.  Flowy.  Pretty.  Perfect for Spring & Summer.  I feel quite "girlie" whenever I wear it.

Look at the details.  The color.  Harold's was the best.

All together now... "Ahh... I wish that store were still open."

Throw in a very feminine & flowy white blouse and you have the perfect outfit for a day living on the sun.

Seriously, I envision our astronauts wearing this very ensemble when we first explore the sun.  Hee Hee

Do they work together?

And it all comes together like so...

Oh, yes, I do have some different shoes in my bag for the walk from DART to the office.  These cuties are great around the office but they really are not made for the sidewalk.

Tonight I head out to my sister's place for dinner and a sleepover.  Apparently the soccer games are quite early and I promised not to miss opening day so Sis suggested I come on out tonight.

I have a cute outfit planned for the games tomorrow.  Hope you like it?

I hope you all have a great weekend!

I Want My Gold Star Now, Please...

Today will make three days in row with a new post.  Yea!

I was challenged by Thu over on her blog to get a post up again today.  She promised me a "gold star" if I did, hence the name of today's post.  Thu, I'll be waiting.

BTW... check out her blog, she has great style!

With that said, I am not sure when I will get another one up but hopefully soon.

You see, I just found out that our client presentation from back just before Thanksgiving was accepted in full... Yes!  We (read me) will be quite busy the next few weeks as we pull all of the details together.  I don't mind busy, especially given the state of things for so many people.  Enough... onto today's attire...

I had so much fun yesterday twirling around in my tulip skirt that I decided to go decidedly "girlie" again today.  My frilly blue sheer blouse would be just the right place to start.  Don't worry, there is a camisol so I didn't reveal too much at the office.  Hee Hee

The blouse...

Isn't it just so "girlie"?  I love the frilly neck line and the sheer material.  I don't actually feel like twirling while wearing this blouse but there is a bit of a bounce in my step.  A little extra sway... step aside boys... there is a girl in the hallway.  Hee Hee

Do you have anything in your closet that makes you feel that way?

I decided to pair the blouse with a simple khaki skirt as I just didn't want there to be any added distractions.  I wanted to the blouse to be able to speak for itself.  You know what I mean?

Notice... I am not tucked in.  You will not see this often.  What can I say, I like "clean lines" so I actually feel a little sloppy, somewhat "unfinished" when my tops are not tucked.  I know, I am a little weird.  This is one of my few blouses that really doesn't lend itself to being tucked but I like it too much not to wear it anyway.

How about you?  Do you prefer to wear a blouse tucked or not?  Does it even matter?

To finish off today's ensemble I opted for the coolest shoes in my closet.  Okay, so I say that about lots of my shoes but I guess that's good, huh?  A girl has got to be happy with her collection of shoes, right?  Anyway...

What do you think?  Aren't they just the sharpest blue heels you have ever seen?

I just LOVE them but they rarely see the light of day because they are blue.  I have a "thing" for "matchy - matchy" so if I am not wearing something like this blouse they will most likely get passed over for something else.  Hey, I am who I am.  Hee Hee

So the final ensemble came together like this...

So what do you think?  Does it say, "I am all girl but I am also a serious business woman?"

Hope You Have A Great Day
