Election Day 2012...

There is no bigger day in American history than the election (or re-election) of the President.

In the spirit of this wonderful reflection of our sacred democratic process...

Another "Red, White & Blue" ensemble...

I think this is my favorite of the three "Red, White & Blue" outfits that I put together back on the day of the second Presidential Debate.  I missed the final debate so the other combination should be seen on Veteran's Day, November 11th.  Cross your fingers... Hee Hee

Here was the first ensemble.

Which is your favorite?

This one is probably my favorite because of this red oxford.

I wear this shirt with numerous items in my closet.  Very versatile.

I see many bloggers doing "30x30" challenges and I always applaud them.  I would never take on such a challenge but in many respects I do it every single day.

Versatility is a must when I decide to bring something home from the store.  I am a HUGE fan of the "mix & match" flexibility an item can provide.  Many different outfits... one piece.

Although it is no secret to those that read my blog that I also adore this lightweight denim skirt from Ann Taylor LOFT.

This skirt is a recent acquisition but it is fast becoming one of my favorites.

It is just so easy to "dress up" for work or "dress down" for less formal occassions.  I actually wore it to my niece and nephew's soccer game a couple of weeks ago.  Paired it with a t-shirt... easy... "casual"... still in keeping with my personal style.

As you know, I am just not the blue jeans sort of girl.

Throw in a simple pair of white heels from Liz Claiborne and I think you have a pretty cute ensemble.

White after Labor Day... the horror!

Just kidding... Halloween was only a few days ago so it seemed like a funny comment.

Maybe not?

Seriously, just another time that The Leather Skirt ignores the "rules of fashion."

Hee Hee

Well?  Agree?

For my USA readers... Regardless of your political leanings... I hope you will vote today!  It does matter!

There are those around the world watching... those that would die for the opportunity... do not take the responsibility lightly!

I have already done my civic duty.  The line was not too bad.  Go out... vote!

The Great Debate I...

Blogging at lunch again today.  I do not really like to do that but I missed my post yesterday and I wanted to ensure that I got one up today.

Soooo...

Without giving away my political leanings...

I thought I would try to give a nod to tonight's very important US Presidential Debate between President Barack Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney.

Yes, I know this is actually the second debate between the two candidates but I did not select anything "special" the last time out.

This time...

In the spirit of our American political season, I chose a "Red, White & Blue ensemble."  Is there anything else that would be more fitting?

What do you think?

LOVE this blouse.

One problem, it is not as warm as the weather man promised it would be.

Thankfully I keep a sweater at the office for just such "wardrobe malfunctions."

Hee Hee

This blouse is truly wonderful.  It just a joy to wear.

Lightweight.  VERY "girlie"... which I like.

Perhaps even just a little "sexy?"

Certainly very elegant in my book.
 LOVE this new skirt, too.

You may recall that I recently acquired this classic item from Kohl's... "Yes!"... Kohl's!

Honestly, I am not a huge fan of Kohl's but for less than $30 this skirt was just too good of a deal not to at least try.

Vibrant color.  Great cut.  Fully lined.

Great classic pencil skirt.  I foresee years of wear at work and at play for this one.

What do you think?
And the finished ensemble...

Well?

What do you think?

Before I close I want to offer my best wishes to our two candidates.  I am confident that both of you are intelligent and driven.  I am confident that both of you care and want the best for our country and the rest of the world.

I wish you both the best of luck tonight.  Your country is watching.  Many around the world are watching.  It is a critical evening for you both.

I ask only one thing... be truthful.  Tell us all what you think, where you plan to lead us.  We are also bright people.  We will make an intelligent decision.  All we need is an honest comparison.

In the end, no matter who the winner of the election turns out to be...

I hope that our President will always do their best to consider the many above the desires of the few.

Just A Casual Saturday...

Dallas is a bit warm again today.  Mid October and the temps continue to soar.  As you may recall, last weekend was quite chilly, well "Dallas Chilly" anyway.

Bad news...You just never know what to expect.

Good news... I can wear just about my entire wardrobe all year long AND I do.

Hee Hee

For those that do not know, apparently there is a pretty big football game going on here this weekend.  This is an annual event as a part of the State Fair of Texas.  Honestly, I am not much of a sports fan so I will not bore you with details.  However, after living here for years, two things are quite clear to me...

First, The University of Oklahoma and the University of Texas do not like one another very much... at least when it comes to football.

-- AND  --

Second, a sea of red and orange will be all over town.

I decided that my wonderful linen skirt in a lime green hue would be the perfect way of telling everyone that I am not taking sides.  Besides, if I even liked sports... my college was so small that they did not have football when I was there so I have no personal "football beef" with either school.

Anyway... on to my ensemble...

As I already mentioned... I started with my lovely green linen skirt.

I have this skirt in a wonderful pastel pink as well.  Wore it earlier this week.  If you like, it is in this post.

Although you did not get to see them much this past summer they are both staples for me.

Light weight.  Great colors.

Easy to mix and match with many of my tops.

Great for the office.  Great for casual wear.

Simply one of my favorite things to wear.

Since it is a warm Saturday, I decided my scoop neck t-shirt from Ann Taylor would be the perfect compliment to this lovely pencil skirt.

Light.

Simple.

Wonderful fit.

Cute.

Comfortable.

What more could a girl want?

So do they "work" together?

Doesn't this little ensemble just "say" comfortable.

I like the term "casual/chic" for outfits like this.

If you read my blog at all, you know that I am a true "skirt & heels" kind of girl.

I do not just wear them to work.  I wear them all the time... everywhere.

Honestly, I just really do not like wearing pants.

Notable exception... my leather pants.  They are great to wear!  you will see them on regular rotation, starting in just a few short weeks.

Back to my "skirt and heels ramble"...

There is just "something" about a great skirt.  Same is true for a great pair of heels.  Why not pair them together on a regular basis?

Ladies, if you do not wear such combinations very often... try it.  You will be surprised at the compliments you will get.

I admit it, I am a bit of a narcissist but when i get a compliment, it is such a great part of my day.

Moving on...

When I pulled this ensemble together last night I had planned on these shoes.

These Liz Claiborne suede heels are also a summer staple.  Soft pink tone.  Almost beige.

Cute bow on top.  What's not to like?

One problem... they are not very agreeable with water and storm are in today's forecast.

Enter the white Liz Claiborne heels that I wore just a couple of days ago.  I showed them to you on my The Rule Breaker post.

Much better choice if the rains do come.

"Sensible" heels.  If only they were higher... sigh.

Here is the ensemble as I prepare to walk out the door...

Yes, of course I am fully dressed while working up this blog post.

Hee Hee

So?  What do you think?

I read all of my comments.  They are truly a bright spot in my day.

I thank you so very much for taking the time to stop in, maybe read a bit of my silliness AND then leave a comment as well... especially the really wonderful ones.  All of you are so very sweet!

HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND!

The Rule Breaker...

This will be one of my shortest post yet.

Yes, I know some of you are thrilled.

Hee Hee

You see, it is well after midnight here and I literally just got in from work.  At about 4:30 today my awesome boss (she really is) strolled in to tell me that we had just gotten the opportunity to to see a client but it is LAST MINUTE and UNEXPECTED.  Proposal MUST come together today as she on the first flight out to go make our pitch.  Okay... let's dig in.

At least I was cute (or at least I thought so) while working into the late hours of the night.  Oh, and I am not the one that will be at DFW Airport in just a few short hours either so things can always be more difficult.

Onto far less critical things... what did I wear today?

Today I started with my white Liz Claiborne heels.  I just felt like it.  Not actually what I had planned the night before.

So I often do not conform to traditional "rules" of the fashion world... call me a rebel.

So who says you cannot wear white after Labor Day?  Does anyone really know?  Why not?

Followed the heels up with a white blouse AND a great pink linen skirt just to make sure I had broken all of the rules regarding post Labor Day attire.  Call Me A Rebel,

Hee Hee

Fortunately I had snapped these photos this morning before leaving for the office.

SO... What do you think?
The pictures are doing funky things tonight?  Too tired to fight with it anymore.

Hope it works once I "publish?"

Have A Great Day!

It Just Seemed Appropriate...

I really wanted to get this post up early in the day today.

I just felt like it had to be posted before the date gets away from us all.

Today is the 11th anniversary of the 9-11 tragedy.

I am not certain that "anniversary" is really an appropriate word?

"Anniversary" suggests a celebration.

There is NOTHING to celebrate about that horrible day.

But... Is there a better word?  I am just not that talented of a wordsmith.

Before I go on, let me be clear, I am in no way taking sides.  I am not interested in sharing my views on why this attack happened or all of the political turmoil and wars that have followed.  This is not the forum.

Know only this, regardless how you feel about the politics, I hope we can agree that almost 3,000 lives cut short is a tragedy.  An awful act of terrorism that I truly hope never sees our shores again.

GOD BLESS ALL OF THOSE THAT WERE TOUCHED SO DEEPLY ON THAT DAY!!!!

Now on to far more frivolous affairs... what am I wearing today?

Given the date... red, white & blue just seemed appropriate.

Oddly, I do not recall having ever worn this ensemble on July 4th though.  Perhaps next year?

I am sorry that the shoes turned out blurry.  I was in a huge hurry to get to the office this morning and time to take outfit photos really was not allotted.  Alas, the trials & tribulations of fashion blogging...

Isn't this skirt fun?  Harold's... ahh, Harold's.

I think the inverted pleats just take an otherwise mundane skirt and make it special.

Who doesn't love a great red oxford?  This one is quite light, too.  She gets year round wear.

Put them together...

Throw in my beloved (and well loved) blue Liz Claiborne heels and this is what we have...

So... appropriate?  Patriotic enough?

At the coffee shop this morning I had two lovely ladies comment on how much they liked my outfit.

One said, "Lovely."

The other said, "Such a nice looking outfit, especially for today."

Thank you my dear.

I am a bit of a narcissist (minimum requirement to be a blogger, I think... Hee Hee) so...

...I always LOVE the compliments.

As for next year... now I am thinking that those red heels and that red pencil skirt that I have been clamoring for... absolutely necessary.  I cannot be expected to duplicate this exact ensemble on every patriotic day in the calendar, can I?

Hee Hee

I hope all of you have a WONDERFUL day.

Please take a moment and say a little prayer for those that lost loved ones 11 years ago.

Mint Green & A Movie...

If you read my blog at all, you certainly know that I absolutely LOVE black.  Who doesn't?  It is just so easy, so versatile.  It goes with almost anything.  Always looks sharp.  What's not to love?

Today is a radical departure for my blog... but not actually unusal for me at all.  I actually wear this skirt quite often, especially during the warmer months.

For some reason it just hasn't appeared on my blog before?

This lovely mint green skirt is from Talbots.  I have had it since college.  Seriously.  Have a pastel pink one as well.  Both are in regular rotation and have been for years.  Amazing how a quality garmet will hold up for years if it is cared for.  Do you have anything more than ten years old that you still wear regularly?

Everytime I pull it out, I smile just a little.  The little pleats on the back are just too cute.  Hee Hee

Today I chose a little more "statement"... yet subduded.  Is that possible?  I think so.

Anyway... what do you think of the blouse I paired with the skirt?

Well?

Add in a sweet pair of suede heels with a cute little bow and I feel like a little girl getting ready for church on Sunday morning.  I may have to skip home this afternoon?  Hee Hee

I showed you the heels back in December and mentioned how they made me feel "girlie" then, too.  Funny.

And it all comes together...

It is Friday.  I go out to Sis's place tonight after work for dinner and a movie with the kids.  My niece told me the movie's name but it didn't mean anything to me.  Hee Hee  Sis tells me to just smile.  She also tries to convince me that some of them are even good.  Hee Hee

No matter, I cherish these moments.  They are growing so fast... already.  I know that they have only been out here a few months but I swear that both of them have grown about six inches.

Well, gotta get out the door and off to work.  Need to leave on time tonight... don't want to be late for my dinner and movie date.
