Not Sure I Like These...

Saturday is generally errand day.  Groceries.  Dry cleaner.  Miscellaneous little chores.

I imagine that anyone reading this blog understands.

However, I am not your typical girl.

I just don't run around in sweats or even jeans.

That just is not my style.

The girls out and about in their PJ's really confuse me.

I like being "dressed up" very much. I like it so much that I don't even consider myself "dressed up" most of the time.

This is just how I dress.

In my mind, "dressed up" is a cocktail dress and strappy heels, not a simple pencil skirt, a nice top and heels.

During the cooler months of the year my "Saturday Uniform" is often my leather pants and a sweater.  I like it because it is easy yet still sharp.  In my mind, there is not a better casual/chic combination.

However, I am a long time member of the Community Of Girls That Love Skirts, too.  Anyone who reads my blog regularly knows this to be true.  I am poet but I didn't know it.  Hee Hee

I am a new but committed member of the Society Of High Heel Lovers, as well.  I don't wear high heels every day but my collection is growing and... I love wearing them.

Those memberships do not stop on Saturday, they just don't.

Sooo...

For today's ensemble I started with my favored black leather skirt from North Beach Leather...

Just to soften things up a bit I opted for my pink oxford.

A match made in heaven.

I really do think they go well together.

How about you?

This is what I am not so sure I was happy with as the day progressed.

Did these do my outfit justice or should I have gone with a pair of tall boots?  Perhaps even my high heels?

I do think these shoes are cute.  I must, I bought them.  I am just not sure they worked at all in this ensemble.

I think the high heels would have been "too dressy" for errands although I am hardly above being "too dressy"... Hee Hee.

The boots are my standard when I wear my leather skirts this time of the year.  I just wanted to try something different today.

I am just not convinced that the shoes worked at all.

Here is the whole ensemble.

What do you think?

Hope Your Day Was Fabulous!

Pinstripes & Leopard...

I didn't really know it when I first posted here but I was starting down a new fashion road.

Within a month, my collection of high heels had grown and I had joined the Society Of High Heels Lovers permanently.  That was just a little over a year ago.

Today I am wearing the second pair of high heels that I ever purchased.  I now have others but these probably remain my favorite.

Leopard print is just so cool but I am generally not ready for anything more than an "accent" or an accessory when it comes to the animal kingdom.  The ladies I see sporting the leopard print  and snake skin skirts, pants, tops & jackets always look exquisite but I am just not sure that fits my style.  For now, these babies will satisfy my thirst.

Today's outfit really is pretty simple, nothing particularity dramatic but I love the look nonetheless.  Corporate chic really is my comfort zone.

One word comes to mind.  Polished.

As a long time member of the Community Of Girls Who Love Skirts it is only natural that I would gravitate towards a great pinstriped pencil skirt.

Add in a feminine blouse.  This one wears so well, too.

Perfect for a warm Autumn day like today.

... And another word that comes to mind... classic.  I like classic.

Pulling it all together...

So... what do you think?

I don't mind telling you, I had a few compliments on this ensemble already today and I just made it back to the office from lunch.

Hee Hee

HOPE YOU HAVE A FANTASTIC DAY!

OOTD: Soccer Saturday...

My niece and nephew have invited me to their soccer games today.

I will be the first to admit, I really do not know much about the game.

The kids seem to enjoy playing so I suppose that is all that matters.

However, I must confess... it really is not my favorite thing to do on a Saturday.

I go because they like Aunt Jordan to be there.

However, the day will be nice despite the soccer.

Hee Hee

You see, the first game is early in the morning and the second game is not until after lunch.  In between, brunch with Sis and her kids.  Now that is my idea of a relaxing Saturday morning.

Hee Hee

So how does a confessed member of the Community of Girls Who Love Skirts deal with such a day?

By wearing slacks... of course...

Breath... just breath... I know it is a switch.

I will not except liability for any medical bills associated with heart failure or the like caused by today's wardrobe choice.

Hee Hee

This ensemble is certainly "casual" for me but it seemed appropriate.

I have been to the games in a skirt and heels before but today I thought that I would be a little more low key.

There is a chill in the air this morning.  A real chill in the air.  Brrr...

It is shaping up to be a glorious fall day in Texas.

In order to compensate for the rather subdud nature of the slacks and the top, I opted to go with some color and chic texture.  I think this wonderful burgundy leather blazer makes things a little more interesting.

What do you think?

I think the jacket really pulls out the color in the pinstripe pattern on these slacks, too.

Win. Win.

Add in these cute little burgundy'ish short boots and I think I have come up with an ensemble that I will be happy with for the day.

So... Did The Leather Skirt do well for a chilly day of soccer?

Hope the kids win!

Have A Wonderful Saturday!

Style Icon - Katie Couric - Red...

Katie Couric - Style Icon - Katie Couric - Wearing Red

Katie Curic is one of my favorite television hosts and one of many that inspire my personal style.  I have but one word for Katie and her style... FLAWLESS!

I have always been a huge fan for years.  I watched the Today Show and now I record Katie's show every day, too.  Confession... I do not always get to watch it (Sorry, Katie) but there is always at least one episode sitting there on the DVR.

Her personal style is just one of the many things that I admire but, alas, this is a fashion blog so lets talk color, cut and shoes!  Hee Hee

RED... LOVE RED and it appears that Katie does, too.

I guess most of us like a little red now and then though, huh?

Suddenly Taylor Swift is bouncing around in my head.  Hee Hee

Here are just a few of Katie's recent looks incorporating the color red that caught my eye.  I want them all.

Being a dedicated member of the "Community of Girls Who Love Skirts," I am not much of a "dress girl" but this one caught my eye.

... And this one is even better...

Another recent look from her daily show.  Naturally, I like the leather skirt... Hee Hee... but the whole look is sleek and sophisticated without being over the top.

Classic.

Katie is sartorial genius.

I Know I Just Wore A Red Skirt But...

I cannot help myself.  I am LOVING RED at the moment.

I have always loved red but it seems like I have an even deeper passion for it of late.

Hence today's outfit...

Red pencil skirt from Ann Taylor Loft...

Nothing beats a great pencil skirt.

Just renewed my annual membership in the Community of Girls Who Love Skirts.

Beige sweater with a great turtle neck to help with the morning and evening chill.

Add in a wonderful pair of red high heels from Kohl's.

Still LOVE my new high heels!  I just cannot seem to get enough of them.

Still a committed member of the Society of High Heel Lovers.

Hee Hee

And the completed ensemble...

Believe it or not... that is it.  not much else to say.

I am in a HUGE hurry to get out the door this morning.

As always, I look forward to reading your thoughts.

HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!

Something New... Something New...

Have I mentioned how much I truly LOVE Ann Taylor LOFT?

Of course I have.

Hee Hee

Actually, you might even describe me as a bit obsessed.  I cannot help myself.  Their clothes are just soooo my personal style.  I get their e-mail solicitations daily and I cannot help but go look.

Is there ever anything new on the website?

Rarely.

Does it matter that I know that?

Not at all.

Is anyone else that obsessed with a specific retailer?

Anyway... today's ensemble...

What do you think of the color of this skirt?

Ann Taylor calls it Teal Night.  I prefer to think of it simply as gorgeous.  LOVE the color, whatever you want to call it.

I cannot tell you how much I like this skirt.  I do not have the words.

The only thing that is somewhat troubling... teal is not quite as flexible as black or white... my fail safe "colors."

Fortunately, all of my black and white tops will go well with it.

Hee Hee

It is still available here if you like what you see?

Speaking of black and white...

I went with my striped blouse from Casual Corner today.

Do they "work" together?

This is a great blouse.  I have had it for years.

I wear it quite often.  I just think it is quite sharp.  How about you?

One of my favorite ensembles is pairing this blouse with my black leather skirt.  I wear that combination at least once each Fall/Winter... probably more often than that.

Hee Hee

To finish things off I finally got a chance to wear my new black patent leather high heels.

How gorgeous are these shoes?

I found these babies at Nordstrom Rack while out shopping with my dear friend Cindy a few days ago.

You may remember that her wonderful husband Rob gave her a "day off" to spend some time with me?

Franco Sarto high heels for $44.97!!!  I just HAD to have them.  Besides, how many different outfits go well with black heels?

Sometimes I justify needless purchases far too easily.

Hee Hee

And the finished look...

Just another standard ensemble for a member of both the Community of Girls Who Love Skirts and the Society of High Heel Lovers.

Hee Hee

What do you think?

Well, lunchtime is over.  Gotta go!

Looking forward to reading your thoughts.  Your comments always make my day.  Yea... I really am that shallow.

Hee Hee

Have a Wonderful Day!!!

My Leopard Print High Heels...

Today was just one of those days.

I woke up this morning and decided that my beloved leopard print high heels from Ann Taylor LOFT would see some pavement.  I have not worn them in several days.

As I mentioned in a previous post, this was really the first pair of high heels that I ever owned.  Now I am obsessed, some might even say addicted.

I believe that I have recently "upgraded" my membership in the "Society of High Heel Lovers."

Hee Hee

Look at these shoes... wouldn't you be?

I often take DART to work so walking from my apartment to the station and then from the station to the office is required.

I must have shoes that I can walk in and these babies really do work!  They are wonderful to wear... all day long.  Incredible shoes!

It is still hot here in Dallas though so I knew I wanted to go with a very "light" ensemble.

Last night I had planned a different ensemble but, alas, the high heels redirected me.

Given that I pulled this outfit together in a rush this morning I think I did okay.

You?

Simple combination.  White blouse.  Dark pencil skirt.  Great pair of heels.

In other words, my daily "uniform."

As I said, "light" and "comfortable".

This incredible blouse did the trick.

I cannot help but feel so sophisticated when I wear it.

I feel so "grown up."

Hee Hee

I mean, look at that wonderful neckline...

It is certainly feminine.

Wouldn't you agree?

As I have told you before, I am a committed member of the "Community of Girls Who Love Skirts."

Mom is the founding member.  Hee Hee

This lovely "finished" denim number is also a recent Ann Taylor LOFT acquisition.

Unlike the shoes (paid full price... ugh!), I got this one for 40% off the regular price.  That is a little easier to justify.

Hee Hee

Truth... even at full price I see so many ensembles that this skirt will feature in... classic piece... perfect for my closet.

So everything comes together like this...

A simple combination.

A classic combination.

My favorite type of combination.

Perfect for a day in which the temps will close in on 90 degrees.

Throw on a light jacket and perfect for a walk home after dinner as well.

Well?

What do you think?

Did I do well?

 On a slightly different note...

Carrie Underwood is in town tonight.  LOVE her!  So wish I had tickets.  Have checked a few websites today hoping I would get lucky with someone needing to "dump" theirs at the last minute.  No such luck... at least not yet.

I will keep trying.

In the meantime... my girl is taking over on my iPod.  that will just have to do.

Hee Hee

I truly appreciate every comment that is left on my blog.  Most are just so sweet and uplifting.

I do my best to return the comment in kind so I hope you will take a minute and leave me a note.

Yes... It Is A Dress...

I know, I know...
I am a committed member of the...
"Community Of Girls Who Love Skirts."
That will never change.
Are you a member?
But...

It had to be done.
Mostly because (let's be perfectly honest here) I got so many wonderful compliments about the skirt I have in the exact same pattern.  I know I wore the skirt yesterday but today will be spent mostly away from the office.  New faces.  Who will know?

Does anyone else ever do that?

I call this one my "Venice Dress."  You can see the "Venice Skirt" here if you wish.

It is quite warm here in Dallas AGAIN today.  The weatherman promised some warmer temps all week and he really delivered.  It has been downright HOT

Fall is supposed to arrive on Saturday.  I am ready.

Since it is a bit warmer I did something that I rarely do... I wore an "open toe" shoe to work.

If you follow my blog, you know that I just do not do that.

I occasionally make an exception for these wonderful shoes because I think they are just "fancy" enough to be appropriate for work.

In my opinion, sandals can VERY easily be far too "casual" for office wear.

I think these babies "skirt the line" just enough between "casual" and "dress."

What do you think?

In case you are wondering... they are made by Born.

Yes, Born.

You know how much I truly LOVE any shoe from Born.

Simply put... the most comfortable boot I have ever worn.  These shoes are no exception.

I wish that Born would begin making a classic dress shoe.  I just know they would be a staple in my wardrobe if they ever do.  A pair in every color.  A girl can dream.

Hee Hee

And the final ensemble...

So were you surprised when you opened my blog today?

I suspect the girls at work will a bit surprised when I walked in.  Complimentary but clearly a little surprised.

You fashionable ladies that read my blog are not the only ones that know that  I am a committed member of the "Community Of Girls Who Love Skirts."

Sometimes I like to keep people on their toes...

Hee Hee

BTW... thank you so much for taking the time to stop by and read my blog.  I cannot express my gratitude well enough.  It never ceases to amaze me how sweet my "blogger friends" can be.  I read all of your comments and do my best to return the comment in kind.

Look forward to reading both your thoughts and your wonderful blogs.

Have A Marvelous Day!

Shocker...

You did not think I even owed a pair of slacks, did you?

I do own a few... I just rarely wear them.

I really am a committed member (maybe the only member... Hee Hee) of the "Community of Girls Who Love Skirts."  I just wasn't "felling it" today so out came these gray slacks.

Probably partly because it is Friday?

Since I decided to pull out a pair of slacks for work today I decided some color would be an absolute MUST.

Enter this wonderful purple turtleneck sweater.

This baby is so old that I could not even begin to try and guess where I got it.  Honestly, I think that makes for some of the best sweaters.

Well worn.  Soft.  "Broken in."

What do you think?

Just to keep the "color theme" going I opted for my purple heels.

Unfortunately, this is the last time you will see them.

Broke the heel getting out of the car when I got home today.

Ugh!!!

They were cute though?  Huh?

Okay, so now that your surprise has worn off a bit... just imagine my co-workers when I walked in this morning.  Hee Hee

I thought that my boss was going to flip!

She actually called me into her office as soon as she saw me.  She was concerned that I was not feeling very well.  Sweet.  Funny... but sweet.

I did just get over pneumonia AND I never wear anything but a skirt so I guess it was a reasonable question, huh?

Isn't funny how you can set a certain "expectation" in your appearance... good or bad?  Any deviation from that "standard" seems to attract attention.  I just think it's funny.  Hardly harmful... just funny.

I hope you have a fantastic weekend!

THANKS FOR STOPPING BY...
